myth has it that only those who are "very suggestible" can enter a hypnotic trance and so benefit from hypnosis/hypnotherapy. However, almost everybody can be hypnotised if they want to be apart, perhaps, from those who are unable to focus their attention for prolonged periods of time, such as the very young or very old, or those who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs
given sufficient confidence in the therapist and a strong desire to change, the one thing that normally prevents a person from entering a hypnotic trance, other than resistance, is a wariness of the process
