please note: the following represents an example of a typical treatment programme offered by Christine Woolfenden. The number of sessions required and the exact approach adopted will be tailored to suit the specific needs of each individual client; very often, clients require fewer sessions than suggested here

SESSION 1: case history / problem analysis and introduction to hypnotherapy

HOMEWORK: listen to the relaxation CD daily, keep a diary of situations in which your feelings of self-worth are tested and the thoughts, feelings and behaviours that result


SESSION 2: further identification and release of the causes of low self-esteem

SESSION 3: acceptance of and commitment to change

SESSION 4: re-framing of past events that created and compounded feelings of low self-esteem

regression and de-sensitisation

HOMEWORK: listen to the relaxation CD daily, model the behaviour of a confident person whom you admire and stretch your confidence comfort zone a little more each day, re-cap all of your achievements to date


SESSION 5: further re-framing of negative past influences on perceptions of self-worth

overcoming the influence of over-powering othersmirror visualisationdevelopment of self-belief

HOMEWORK: listen to the relaxation CD daily, complete the Negative Thoughts Audit


SESSION 6: further development and anchoring of genuine feelings of self-worth

confidence circle – anchoring of positive feelings/thoughtscombating negative thoughts

HOMEWORK: practise the anchor, allow only positive self-talk, identify and explore your needs


SESSION 7: direct self esteem-boosting session including introduction to the Personal Power Spot, that Quiet Inner Voice, etc

HOMEWORK: keep practising the anchor and positive self-talk


SESSION 8: focusing the mind on current and future success
